A Regional, Full-Service Real Estate Development and Management Firm - Systems Implementation Planning

The Challenge
A regional Real Estate firm involved with the management and development of both commercial and residential real estate had experienced significant growth, and its current IT infrastructure could not support the expanded business needs.  They purchased upgraded software but did not have the resources to develop a strategic implementation plan.

The Client asked Teel StratVisor Group to assist them in analyzing their needs and creating an implementation plan that would help define current and future processes and facilitate a smooth transition.

What We Did
The StratVisor team met with the Client management first, to understand current processes and system use, and to understand what they wanted in the future such as defining lease types, CAM pool recovery, etc.  The next step was to evaluate internal processes and volumes related to accounting operations.  They determined that a series of workshops to review module set-up and develop decision factors was the optimum way to obtain the information needed.

Over a period of 30 days, StratVisor facilitated five workshop sessions, ranging from four to eight hours in length.  The areas covered were:

  • Critical decision issues
  • Data clean-up/conversion
  • AP set-up
  • Commercial set-up
  • Residential set-up
  • GL set-up
  • Security set-up

During these sessions, the StratVisor team interacted with members of the implementation team and completed a detailed review of current processes, how the new software would impact and change those processes, and what steps were necessary to make the transition.  In addition, the StratVisor team reviewed screens of the new system with the internal implementation team in order to illustrate the set-up steps necessary to implement the system.

The StratVisor team then compiled all the data and prioritized the steps into a detailed implementation plan.

The Result
As a result of working with Teel StratVisor Group, the Client received the following:

  • Five facilitated workshop sessions, covering seven areas impacted by the software upgrade
  • Documented volumes, decision points and session notes
  • Detailed implementation plan with over 160 steps
